According to Freddie Mac, the national average commitment
rate for a 30-year, conventional, fixed-rate mortgage rose to
4.95 percent in February from 4.76 percent in January; the
rate was 4.99 percent in February 2010. Single-family home sales fell 9.6 percent to a seasonally
adjusted annual rate of 4.25 million in February from 4.70
million in January, and are 2.7 percent below the 4.37 million
pace in February 2010. The median existing single-family home
price was $157,000 in February, which is 4.2 percent below a
year ago.
